"Statistics," which is becoming increasingly important and necessary in today's world and serves as the common technology of science, is a scientific field dealing with the acquisition of numerical data and its analysis to aid in decision-making. It is used across a wide range of fields, from physics and natural sciences to social sciences. In this department, education and research are conducted on methods of data collection, analysis, and interpretation in a specific field.
The duration of education in the Statistics program is 4 years, during which subjects related to mathematics, algebra, geometry, and numerical abilities are generally taught.
Upon completing the curriculum, our graduates obtain a bachelor's degree at the undergraduate level. Graduates of the Statistics Department who have completed four years of undergraduate education are given the title of "Statistician."
Graduates who have acquired contemporary, scientific, and technological knowledge from the Statistics Department can find opportunities to work in universities, the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK), TUBITAK (The Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey), State Planning Organization, Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey, Prime Ministry, Treasury Undersecretariat, Ministry of Labor and Social Security, as well as in the private sector such as insurance companies and banks.
The Statistics Department of Çanakkale Onsekiz Mart University was established in the 2009-2010 academic year and began admitting students in the 2020/2021 academic year. The quotas and occupancy rates for each academic year are provided in the table.
